The Ultra COVID-19 Fund contributed £4,500 to Operation Flinders in Australia to support its activities during the pandemic.
Operation Flinders aims to transform young people's lives through their participation in an evidence-based outback intervention program. The program provides young men and women who have been identified as 'at-risk' with demanding outdoor challenges and ongoing support to help them develop their personal values of self-esteem, motivation, leadership, teamwork and responsibility. In excess of 8,000 young people have participated in this program since its inception in 1991.
Like many organisations, Operation Flinders was significantly affected by the COVID-19 restrictions with the postponement of their first three outings for the year. The Foundation relies heavily on the support of the corporate and community sector to fund its programs which unfortunately dropped significantly.
Operation Flinders’ principles align with Ultra’s values, positively impacting youth from many schools and communities throughout the state of South Australia.
